Rev. Arnold Damen, S.J. (1815-1890) was born in Holland, admitted to the Society of Jesus in November 1837 and later brought to America by Father DeSmet, renowned Jesuit missionary to the American Indians. Fr. Damen became a great missionary leader, and founder and organizer of the Jesuit Institutions of Chicago, Illinois.
Two sermons by Fr. Damen; illustrating from the Bible and history that there can only be one true Church, the Catholic Church and the second he demonstrates very clearly that the Bible comes from the Church and religions cannot be formed based on the Bible alone.
