“The Money That Won the Civil War and the World War.” The two primary requisites in waging war are money and blood. It is realized that the blood of the race must be improved. But as to money, it is still the old cry, “debasing the coin of the realm” or inflation. Purify the money and you will end the war. It is the only way. The author states that aside from President Lincoln’s morality, his lack of executive capacity left this country with a war that lasted three years longer than it should have, and even worse a European monetary system of “debasing the coin of the realm” or inflation – a system that it was the purpose and intention of the framers of the Constitution to get away from.
